Use your existing HTTPS checkers
Certificate inspection is enabled by default for HTTPS webpage checkers. Open a checker, expand HTTPS certificate, and leave Send certificate expiry alerts enabled. Send email notification must also be enabled for that checker. HTTP-only and TCP-port checkers do not receive certificate-expiry reminders.
Understand the reminder schedule
A separate worker inspects the certificate at most once every six hours. Reminder levels are 14, 7, 3, and 1 day before expiry, plus an expired level. Each certificate receives a level once; repeated minute-by-minute downtime emails do not apply to certificate reminders. If a certificate is first inspected close to expiry, the most urgent applicable level is used.
Catch a failed automatic renewal
Your website may still respond normally while its certificate has only seven days left. The expiry reminder gives you time to inspect the renewal task, DNS validation, or certificate deployment. After replacing the certificate, its updated expiry appears on a subsequent inspection. The example is a renewal check, not a guarantee that every TLS configuration problem will be detected.
Keep expiry and availability separate
Expiry inspection does not change the checker’s UP/DOWN state. An unreadable certificate produces an inspection message, not an invented expiry date. Reminders are muted during maintenance and while email notifications are disabled. Renew the certificate at your hosting provider; Simple Ping does not renew or install it for you.
